First paper published from Desmognathus phylogenomic NSF grant

Writer's picture: David BeamerDavid Beamer

This is the first comprehensive genomic dataset published for Desmognathus. It highlights that the current taxonomy does not represent the diversity contained within this genus. Another finding is that reticulation between distantly related lineages has been a pervasive feature of the evolutionary history of these salamanders. Our paper also rejects the major premises of a recently published paper in Evolution (https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1111/evo.13606).
